What will my child learn by the end of the curriculum?
By the end of the curriculum, your student will know all of the letter sounds of the alphabet as well as the long and short vowel sounds, and eight digraph combinations, and three common ending letter combinations.
They will have strong phonetic decoding skills, know 36 sight words with irregular spellings, and be able to independently read hundreds of words. They will have phonemic awareness skills allowing them to begin spelling and writing words and simple sentences. They will also be introduced to the the of syllables in words and the syllable patterns that effect reading open and closed syllables in words.
Most importantly, your child will have a strong foundation in phonics, decoding skills, and phonemic awareness to begin their reading journey with confidence and excitement!
