Students are also continue to learn digraphs and long vowel sounds, as well as common ending sound combinations. Students expand their understanding of syllables and learn about open and closed syllables and how that impacts how we decode words.

z, qu, ing, ng, ph, kn, all, and long vowel sounds e, u, y
Children continue to develop their reading skills through decodable words and stories for each lesson in their workbook. Word activities become more advanced and students continue to develop beginning spelling skills. Reading comprehension is encouraged through drawing pictures to the stories presented in each lesson.
